DUBLIN SINGER-SONGWRITER LUKE CLERKIN EXPLORES THOSE TIMES OF ‘ALMOST LOVE’ IN HIS LATEST SINGLE, NOCTURNAL.
Nocturnal is the second single from Luke Clerkin’s upcoming EP, ‘What Little Time We Have’, an EP which has seen him work with previous collaborator and producer Gavin Doyle and Jack Keenan.
This new release explores the journey of a relationship, going from the nervous excitement of just meeting, to regret and reminiscence from the perspective of a few months later. As listeners we’re invited into an emotional roller coaster through Luke’s eyes, but with a raw and relatable honesty in lyric that feels personal to each of us.
When discussing the background to the single Luke said,“Nocturnal is quite a personal song. It’s about me reflecting on a past relationship, from the first night of meeting the person – the nerves and anxiety that can occur – to it becoming something that turned into an ‘almost love’. Then it moves on to looking back on the relationship a few months after it ending, and wondering if it should have finished when it did.”
Compared to the more stripped back, reflective sound of Luke’s previous releases, including his last song Stones, which received a great response, Nocturnal sees a move to a more indie infused, full band soundscape, yet still maintaining the distinctive relaxed feel of Luke’s music. The slight predictability in beat provides focus to Luke’s heartfelt vocal lines and captivating storyline. Fans can be excited to see the different sound-worlds Luke will capture within his upcoming EP!
