RUNOFFBROKE, A 21 YEAR OLD RAPPER CURRENTLY BASED IN IRELAND, IS MAKING WAVES IN THE MUSIC SCENE WITH A STRING OF NEW RELEASES.
RUNOFFBROKE (Jordan Wilson) has been making music since he was eleven, gaining a plethora of experiences, from working in Germany to touring the US. After bringing out three back to back singles in April, Gimme Dat, White Bag, and Sins, followed by the release of Family at the end of May, RUNOFFBROKE continues the stream of new music with his latest track, Wish You Knew.
The single, a cyclical and toxic love story, is depicted by a versatile amalgamation of dancehall, house and rap music. Speaking about the topic Jordan says “love and hate are two necessary factors in a relationship, you have to have the perfect mix of both to make it work” and this idea is reflected in Wish You Knew. RUNOFFBROKE continues, “it’s a toxic relationship that you’re happy to be in” – an unusual plot twist to the common hate brigade on toxic relationships that’s found within many artist’s music.
Wish You Knew continues the rapper’s collaboration with producer Feel.Factory (NINETY7HERTZ), using beats with influence from afrobeat, deephouse and dance hall. These interweave with Jordan’s fresh rhymes and lyrics, complimenting the story of arguments, lust, resolution and repetition we see in the track. Quick and clever lyrics fill the verses, but the slightly more spacey chorus sections gives a more chilled out vibe to Wish You Knew.
