FOLLOWING THE SUCCESS OF HER FIRST SINGLE OVERTHINKING, SIANON HAS RELEASED A SEQUEL TO THE POST BREAKUP STORY LINE WITH HER BRAND NEW SONG, CRY CRY CRY.
Cry Cry Cry is an anthem for anyone who’s gone through the stages of a break up and had that moment when the realisation hits and everything comes crashing down. You eat a ton of snacks, over analyse everything, and then you pick yourself up and begin to move on.
Speaking about the story behind the track Sianon says “there’s just something poetic about the final cry, I was still vulnerable and it hurt like hell but it was also like coming up for air. I listened to Coldplay on repeat, ate a load of ice cream, but then deleted all of the photos of us, and vowed to never cry over that person ever again. Then I wrote the song.”
At it’s core Cry Cry Cry is a breakup song, but with fresh lyrics and infectious electro-pop beats, the single avoids just being yet another sad song about relationships. Instead it embraces the finality and hope that come from the final cry.
Catchy as a whole but quirky in detail, Cry Cry Cry is a song that makes you go ‘yeah, me too, I feel that!’ It’s a track that is utterly relatable, but we hear injections of Sianon’s personality throughout. Talking about her influences, Sianon has explained, “my ideal is to write songs that can tell stories like Dolly Parton, and have the undeniable catchiness of ABBA.” With slight inflections of Taylor Swift, someone who she was influenced by, I think she’s achieved it with this track.
